Black Remedy brings gastronomy and speciality coffee to the heart of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter.
Located just a few steps away from Gotico’s Plaça Sant Jaume, this coffee and deli bar is a true gem in the centre of Barcelona. Black Remedy has a passion for gastronomy and speciality coffee, and it shows. The menu is mouth watering, bringing you a wide choice of either healthy salads or sandwiches with slowly smoked meat. They work with local suppliers, delivering them the best ingredients and products for the bar.
Their American style sandwiches such as the classic Pastrami Philly cheese-steak sandwich or Pulled Pork all look delicious. I tried a slowly smoked Pulled Pork with apple and it was heavenly!
The counter is filled with amazing looking cakes and pastry, to top off your visit with a dessert. And obviously you cannot leave here without a cup of coffee. The barista prepares it with the utmost care and serves you a proper shot of caffeine.
Like the menu, the design of Black Remedy gives of a bit of an American vibe. In the stylish New York kind of way. It is a spacious and light bar with high windows making you feel part of the Gothic street life even if you are inside. It has an industrial look with metal furniture and concreet floors, but the wood, plants and warmly coloured details make the whole place a modern but warm and welcoming bar. They also have a magazine corner and two convenient high tables for those who come to get some work done.
The staff is very friendly and attentive and happy to help you make those tough choices on the menu… You can’t have it all, but you can always return! I am sure I will.
